I'm afraid the trend around here is toward the style seen from the waterfall.
I posted pic's of houses in Chipping Campden last year that have been 'Disneyfied' and this person seems to be following the look.
    This was the one...

This house is under the threat of demolition because the developers didn't follow the plans!..To date they have another 4 properties they have messed with.
The locals are up in arms over the way they have been made to look, and I think there was a feature on national TV too.

Pal, being a bit contaversial perhaps, but I think that house looks pretty good.
What is it that the locals dont like about how it looks, it would do me anyway. [IMG]

Pete, the building on the left is a garage with accommadation above. It wasn't even on the plan!
The extension to the right of the door wasn't either it seems.

I presume it was an old run down property?
And I know planning permission has to be aquired, but would they have got planning consent for what they have done to the original property?

I sometimes think that its a good job the victorians, etc. didn't have the same approach to listed buildings as we have these days, otherwise we wouldn't have much now to list, just mostly piles of decaying rubble.
Either demolish or move on, I say, no building should stand still.

The original was about 1920's. Single ridge Tile roof. There is another property a few metres away and they have bought that too. Both looked similar and I know for a fact they had metal casements windows with Leaded panes, all 1920/30's.
In an extension on the second house I fitted new windows to match in 1998.
There is another property they are 'doing up' down the road and it is just about the most photographed thatched cottage in the county. I'll get a pic and let you see what they have done to it!
    :(

There is a business park near the village I lived in as a kid, and it was built in WW11 as an American Hospital, soon after it was used for POW's,then a Hostel for refugees. I was so pleased to see the Shrine built by them has been restored and a plaque erected. I had many school friends who were born there, very loyal friends at that!

[IMG] Pal that is lovely to see... It seems in this day & age, we are only to ready to forget those who died for our freedom all those yrs ago.. I think it is good news to see Memorials refurbished.. At least it shows there are still some of us that do care.... [IMG] I' am afraid we have lost the spirit & I think, knowledge of how to "pull together" in such times....
