1st. Apple Blossom .... Beach Hut Winter Blues... Cold blue and the dark, banded clouds above tipped it as the best.

2nd. Stephenprudence .... Winter's Shadowy Grip... Leaning trees add to atmosphere.

3rd. Wee Tam.... Global warming .... Colour contrasted against snowy background

It's difficult to choose a top 3 as they're all so good. Scrungee asked for bleak so I've gone for the 3 photos which in my opinion fit the brief and are bleak!

        1. StephenPrudence....."Winter's Shadowy Grip". This is bleak. In fact it's that bleak that I wouldn't like to walk down there on my own. Great shot.

        2. Woo....."Last Post" Another bleak shot and imaginative composition. Smashing shot.

        3. Hydro..."Awaiting Spring" Such icy bleakness and a good shot!

        Well done everyone!

1st.... Scrungee.... Winter Day Break.... Stunning photograph, casts of orange in the sky line against bleak mid-winter greys

2nd... Wise Owl.... Last Post.... As the mid-winter clouds disappear over another grey day.. the sun breaks through, fabulous shot.

3rd .....Gogs....Snow Blizzard... Love the prespective and depth of a bleak mid winters day

1st Hydrogardener ... Awaiting Spring ... Perfectly sums up the theme of 'Bleak Midwinter'. Cold, with a stark beauty.

2nd Apple Blossom ... Barren Midwinter ... Really captures the textures and shapes of a midwinter woodland.

3rd Marley ... SugarFrosting ... Frost and ivy, two things which simply say 'winter'.

Keeping the competition title in mind, 'bleak'.......

1st.......Wiseowl.......Last Post.......A perfectly balanced shot with good focusing and an unusual subject for the competition title.

2nd......Hydrogardener.......Awaiting Spring.......This is what winter is about, when icy water and icy sky are as one.

3rd.......Dave W.......Cold and Wet.......I like the humour with this choice, the little fella just grinning and bearing the weather.

          #1.... Trunky... Stark Stalks.
I think this is a fantastic Winter shot, I can almost feel the frost when I look at this, it makes me shiver.

#2.... Wiseowl... Early one January morning.
I love the way the fog is lying over across the city with the monochrome effect giving a depth to the photo.

          #3.... Sheal... Hill Farm.
A typical Winters view. Makes me glad I don't live there ( I'm a city boy at heart :) )
