    Good Morning everyone,
WOO so sorry to hear you have gone down with the OWL flu, not nice at all, I know the feeling my sinuses have been really bad for a while now. I think it hangs on and hangs on. Do hope you are better soon though.
Shiney, good luck for the funeral hope the weather stays clear.

Have a good day everyone, stay warm and dry and above all safe and well, lets hope that wind has dropped considerably.
    God bless. :wub2:

      Good day everyone.

Well, even though I said I was going to take my tablet to bed (brilliant idea, in my mind) I did not. I'll save that for the higher decibel snoring nights :heehee:

Going to have a mostly puttering day and it's a good thing as I'm off to a slow start :snork:

      Have a safe day all.:)

Gooooooood day to all GC WW'ers (and those who read the thread but don't post in it too :heehee: )

Just had the electricity turned back on - its been off all morning. Thought I would phone them to check what was what ... nope, the land line won't work without electric: so, thought I would use my mobile ... nope, I get an iffy reception here but a great one if I use their little app ... which runs off broadband! :rolleyespink: So, after some time, I decided I would try to get some "G" on the mobile ... bit of leaning and twisting around in the bay window and voila! I got some "G" :yahoo: Text Mr "M" at work to phone me: he did ... on the land line (which, remember, isn't working because no 'lecy :wallbanging: What a palaver!!
Ah well, as you'll guess by the fact I'm posting, all seems to be running fine again now

@wiseowl - sorry to hear you are suffering the dreaded owl flu. You need plenty of rest
        [IMG]

@shiney .... good luck with your bridge club ... winning vibes being sent your way (hope the wind doesn't change). Hope all goes as it should at the funeral :grphg:

@CanadianLori - I just knew Gay Gardeners post would set you off :heehee: (taking the tablet to bed, indeed :roflol: )

Right, now I have electricity once again, I shall pop the kettle on, load up the bread machine and get on with "normal" stuff :heehee:

Miles of smiles for one and all xxMxx

@"M" glad to hear your electricity is on again. Interesting difference. Our landline phones are powered separately and work when the power is out. The rest don't - or at least didn't during our last big power outage so I decided never to get rid of the landline because of this. Most interesting...

Yes, I would have expected it to work, but, hey ho! Guess who is going out to buy an el cheapo plug-in and go land line phone this weekend ;)

Here you go, just for you ...

Had a lovely chat with son in Spain, via Skype, this afternoon. He is a very expressive speaker and really does talk with his eyes so there is no mistaking his meaning when we Skype :heehee: Seems there is some sort of celebration going on where he is so he's had a couple of days off. What *really* makes me chuckle is when he says he's had a couple of days off "school"; I correct him and say he has had a couple of days off "work"; he's not a schoolboy now! :roflol:

For our GC'ers across the pond who are enduring snow fall, stay warm, stay safe :grphg:

                  Evening later people :)

Works picked up so limited time in the mornings, gone from nothing to 4 jobs on in a few days :yikes:

Still can't get puter to recognise my phone so no pics  Might pop into curry's tomorrow and ask about bluetooth dongles :hate-shocked:

Have a good fat tuesday everyone :)

It's carnival @"M", to celebrate the beginning of Lent. Everyone dresses up and some of the costumes are just hilarious, like this one:

                          Aloha everyone,

Although the bridge match last night was a very friendly affair we didn't win. :noidea:

Funeral went well and was very well attended. :blue thumb:

Landlines do work over here if there's a power cut but not if you use these new fangled cordless phones as they are powered from their base unit which runs off the mains. It's recommended that you keep an old fashioned plug in phone that can be plugged straight into the phone wall socket. That will work during a power cut unless your local exchange has been dropped out of the grid - something that almost never happens.

Although we use cordless phones on our lines we still keep an old fashioned plug in for when we have power cuts. These occur fairly frequently but not as often as they used to. Last year we had seven power cuts in the first three months. So I kicked up a stink about it.

They started off by denying it, until I gave them dates and times, then they said they couldn't understand why it happened. So I reminded them that their substation blew up three years earlier and they only replaced the old equipment with secondhand, refurbished, equipment (one of the engineers that did the replacement used to be a customer of mine :)). They, subsequently, replaced it with new equipment and we've only had two powercuts in the last year - both due to trees and overhead cables.

I hope to get a little gardening done today. I'm waiting to see how Michael (who helps in the garden) is as he has damaged a tendon (or something like that) in his knee. He hasn't been here for three months. He does the heavy work but it looks as though he may not be able to dig the veggie plot so I may have a go :hate-shocked: (but I don't think Mrs Shiney will let me :old:) I should be able to cut the hedges and shape the conifers - if I do it whilst she's out :heehee:

Keep well and have a great day

                          Aloha!

Good morning everyone, my pc is going from bad to worse. Am seriously thinking of getting an HP recovery disc for windows 7. Don't want anything newer. Trouble is I think the pc itself is on its way out. I tried to get the new laptop working yesterday but it would not recognize my router, so gave up on that as well.
WOO hope you are feeling a little better today. Shiney, I am sorry you lost your bridge match but I am glad the funeral was well attended.
