One question that is interesting me is " Is it good practice to pinch the growing tip out of young annual seedlings ? and if so does this apply to all or just specific young seedlings ?

I pinch out when I want a bushy plant, but the plant isn't naturally making itself bushy. In other cases it just knocks the plant back a week or two.

Don't pinch out any plants that are tall by nature poppies, cornflower that type of thing, pinching out will as Kristen says will make your plant bushier with more flowering tips and smaller flowers,so you need to be selective.

That's would I would like to know too!!! so thank you for asking Southfork!

I am growing escholzia, godetia and cosmos (among other things). I can't see a way of pinching out the escholzia as there are several stems.. but is it ok to pinch out the godetia which have gone leggy?
    Also, what about antirhinums?...

Someone should write a definitive list of what to pinch out for all annuals, perennials etc - I'm sure there are thousands of us who would like to know!
