Hello Everyone, Based in the NW England, I have a small garden plot, that is not in the best shape. I'm looking forward to turning it around in order to provide me with nutritious cheap fruit & vegetables & a bit of lawn to relax on

:sign0016: to GC @CraigS lovely to have you join us and you've chosen the right time too as the season is just about to kick off with gusto
So, small plot, grow your own and a bit of lawn. That is not such a tall order and I think you will be amazed at how much you will be able to accomplish in just one year.
For example, my first year of wishing to grow my own, I grew tomatoes, spring onions, carrots and other stuff I simply forget now :heehee: I began with pots because the area I wished to have raised beds needed serious attention. You can pick up pots quite often on Freecycle which would be great for growing stuff in. I've grown blackcurrants, raspberries, tayberries, loganberries and I'm trying gooseberries in pots.
Don't overlook herbs either. A pot of rosemary in a sunny spot will be very useful come BBQ season, just imagine: you are relaxing on your lawn, you fancy something for tea ... you grab a sprig of rosemary, strip off the leaves (to use later), reach across to your tomato pot and use spear the tomatoes with your rosemary "stick", whack it on the BBQ and "Voila!" ... you are on the road to cheap, nutritious tucker and all you had to do was lean left for the rosemary and right for the tomatoes

Grab a cuppa and have a good nosey around the forums :)
