...from sunny Bolton. I've had a quick look at this forum and you all seem like a friendly bunch so I thought I'd join. Around 10 years ago I moved into a house that had been neglected for years. The garden was in such a state that there was a pond in the middle that you couldn't even tell was there. It was just totally overgrown with weeds and rubble everywhere. Within 2 or 3 years I had a really nice garden and very few problems with plants and shrubs not taking. I had no real plan or theme in mind but by the time I moved last April I had an established and healthy garden. When we moved I decided that I wanted a very loose Japanese theme, just the plants, not water and tea houses or anything complicated. Anyway, things have gone really badly, mostly I think due to the terrible drainage and regular waterlogging but possibly the clay soil isn't helping. It's quite a large ( to me anyway ), west facing garden that was just turfed when we moved in. I've got couple of questions I'd like to get advice on but for now I thought I'd just say hello and introduce myself.

Welcome to GC coldwarkid. Your new garden must be a big disappointment after all the effort put into your previous one. Don't worry! Members here will help you knock it into shape and eventually something you'll be proud of.
