A little photo update of what I have actually done this year (so far).

I'd already started digging this over before I started taking pictures (hence no complete 'before')

The plan was to dig the whole side of the plot which has 1 tunnel on it

Lots of roots were removed in the initial dig over (which was the point of hand digging)

At this point, I'd had enough, and planned to put a raised bed in, and mat the area which hadn't been dug over

Also, I'd got the bed Cultivated in that time as well, the pile of manure seen in the earlier pictures had been spread and cultivated into the large bed which I dug over ...

On top of everything I was digging over and preparing outside, I also had jobs to do inside, namely reclaiming soil/clay pebbles/pots from last years chilli grow and to remove old plants from pots.

Lots of sowing of seeds commenced ...

To use available space (and because I hadn't started the seed), I bought Tumbling varieties of Tomato to put into baskets, to hang from the ridge bars in the wasted space in the tunnel

And I still had this area behind the 2 polytunnels to dig over ..

Whilst (STILL) reclaiming soil etc I came across a chilli plant which had survived the winter !! Woo Hoo

So much work! What's the mulch topping on the pots?

The topping on the pots are clay pebbles, I put these on the pots which are in the tunnels, as they prevent the soil drying out as quick.
