Hi all... Not been posting for a while but back now with a vengeance.

The last two years have not been pleasant. My wife has been unwell meaning we have had to sell our house and move to a bungalow to make things easier for her. Our house here has for us a special garden so giving it up has added to the pain.

We sold last year here but twice we were let down on our purchase properties. It happened again early this year. We sold we found and were let down again. Hell it was and stressful doesent cover it.

Anyway 7 weeks ago we found our dream bungalow. It's set idyllically on the Herefordshrire / Worcestershire borders out in the country. The bungalow is lovely. It needs some renovation and updating but I'm a retired builder so no problems.

Now the big bonus. It has stunning gardens that wrap around the bungalow on all four sides. There is about 3/4 of an acre. So lots to do and get stuck into so get ready for the questions !

Contracts were exchanged some weeks bac and we move in the end of next week.

    Can't wait !

Yes I'm still here @Charlie996. The bottom has fallen out of the housing market and prices are dropping rapidly. Unfortunately the island is currently in double recession.....fallout from England. :doh:My place has been on the market 15 months with no sign of selling even though we've dropped the price to keep up with the current downhill trend. There's nothing I can do but wait or take it off the market, so frustrating!

Copied and pasted at @Charlie996's request. My reply will remain private on PM. :)

Sorry to hear this ! The market place here is raging just now ! So much in fact that when we sold in Febuary and the prices shot up we considered we had sold to low and might have to put the house back on the market as our buying budget was getting stretched. We were about to do just that when we found the bungalow. Things have levelled out now due no doubt to the Europe question.

Perhaps things will move for you too once this EU thing is out of the way ! Certainly hope so !

We are still desperate to visit the IOM ! Sat watching the TT and thought this is getting close to the top of the bucket list.

I wish you sincerely all the very best with your move and hope your dreams come true. Ant questions on the process or questions regarding construction please don't hesitate to ask !

The island isn't part of the EU so we have no vote here. Whatever the outcome, be it an 'in' or 'out' vote there will probably be a knock on effect here.

The knock on is the problem perceived or real .

The market place here in Worcestershire was on fire from Febuary up until a few weeks ago. Now it has levelled out as people are to nervous to make major decisions. It has been said if we leave the EU house prices will fall by a significant amount. Our chain was very short but had a first time buyer at the bottom. I was concerned that that party may just listen to the media rubbish and delay purchasing. 20% Has been mentioned as a possible drop percentage. Now that is a lot of money. But contracts exchanged so obviously the party was undeterred. Thankfully !

The belief is if we leave prices will drop. I f we stay prices will stay flat but the market will pick back up and even jump start and if that happens prices will surely rise again.

Of course we as house owners stand to loose or win in equal amounts so no real drama. First time buyers though could gain substantially. If the bottom of the market stops so does pretty much the rest of it. Hopefully for you Sheal things will work in your favour !
