By law if he is selling more than a certain amount of cars per year then he should be redgisterd with the DVLA as a motor trader.

Perhaps a call to them along with details of number of cars being sold etc

You shouldnt contact the revenue unless you actualy have suspicions of fraudulent activity, Being investigated is a costly and unnplesant business and ultimately costs us all money.

He is probably in all likely hood redgisterd self employed and in this sense legit but probably not redgisterd as a motor trader with the DVLA. When you redgister as a motor trader then if im right you have to by law offer a warranty on the vehicles sold, selling privately avoids this.

I would tend to agree. Having a word does sort out neighbourly disputes sometimes and at least if he did agree to stop parking the cars near yours, then the problem would be sorted quickly.

However if he is like my neighbour (a total dimwit who is a pain in the neck!) ... then you might have to take the other routes but at least you have tried to be civil :)

You don't have to offer a warranty as such, but if you are a trader then you are subject to the stricter parts of the Sale of Goods act, which protects buyers rights if they buy they buy something that turns out to be faulty, and the Trade Descriptions and Misrepresentation acts, which coupled give teeth to the Sale of Goods act in that they define penalties for misrepresenting the stuff you sell (among others).

Cann't agree with Sam and Clueless I wouldn't have a word with him if it goes pear shaped and he turns out to be mr nasty your the one he is going to finger, get the evidence let the authorities sort it,if he is a legit trader he should have proper premises private dwellings are not for running buisnesses from.

thanks all for your response in this matter, i cant get hold of anyone from the council now he has put more cars up the street its very unfair of him as other people will not get there cars parked outside of their homes.
hes definately selling these cars as a street trader, then he takes certain cars away for a few days and brings them back and then puts new ones on street.
bm good point ive taken pics going to put them up to let you see.

we havnt got allocated parking areas outside unless you have a disabled space even then iff someone parks on a disabled bay there is nothing the council will do or the police to move them on, whats the point in having your own disbled bay outside your home

Parking in disabled bays by able-bodied people gets my goat rosa, I'm surprised the council parking control won't do anything about that (I suppose I shouldn't be surprised as they don't really stick up for us do they). A disabled friend carries stickers which says "You've taken my parking space would you like my disability as well?" which he sticks onto their windscreen with very strong glue :thumb:

hi jwk, my neighbours downstairs have a disabled bay outside here and someone parked in their spot and they came back and couldnt get parked so they called the council and police they wouldnt do a thing about it.
my hubby was quite annoyed when they got that as in his opinion they both dont work live off the government and my hubby said they both can walk down the stairs and hes 60 and has worked all his life and we have bother parking our car now.
as for the guy across the street parking all them cars and selling them hes making the parking worse on our street

I'm surprised that co op doesn't do anything about it-it would be restricting their passing trade if people can't park up.

And I must admit-I am surprised the council don't at least come and have a look-it isn't like them not to exploit a possible source of fines.

great news everyone spoke to parking control at council, he said its illegal what hes doing and they are going to come down and get to the bottom of this and do something about it, he said he shouldnt be doing that so he took my number and were it is, suprised parking control have never noticed them before as we are right on a main street, anyway at least all them cars will be gone shortly.
