Can anyone ID these for me please?

    The first one I've seen around quite a bit. I love the purple leaves. Is it a purple beech or something similar? Sorry the quality of pics isn't great - only had my camera phone and I wasn't that close to it.

    These are both coming up in unused containers in the garden. Wondered if they were anything interesting or whether I should compost them?

    1. Could be a Beech.

    2. Might be Himalayan Balsam :yikes:

    3. Spurge (Mind the sap) and a bit of Chickweed

      I don't think number 2 is Himalayan Balsam - plenty of that about where i walk the dogs and don't think it's the same. Will bin both if they aren't going to be anything I'd want in the garden.

      2. Most of the seedlings at the top of the photo are Willow herb.

        If you have any birds as pets @merleworld they will love Chickweed to nibble on. :)
