    Hello :)

I was hoping someone could help me as i'm struggling to find the information i want and it's very important to me.

I am getting married in Sept and i thought it would be nice to have Amaryllis for the table decorations - my nan bought me an amaryllis once and it seems like a nice rememberence on my special day... plus i think theyre gorgeous! ;)

I am trying to find a white one, but they seem out of season at the moment - but i was under the impression that they could be planted anytime indoors... is that incorrect?

What season should i be able to buy Amaryllis?

Also - is there no such thing as a blue amaryllis? Maybe you could sugget a pale blue alternative?

Also - can i just store the bulbs away until i need to plant them to get them to flower at the right time?

I have contacted an online site that seems to have some suitable ones in stock, but i'm distrustful by nature and would like to know how i can be sure that they have sent me the correct bulbs? If they bloom with huge bright red flowers it will be a disater :(

    Help me please :(

    Thanks :luv:

My understanding is that the Bulbs (from a reputable supplier, natch!) will have been "treated" so that they think it is time to get cracking and put up a flower stem.

I have no idea how you gauge it so that they are flowering at the right time though ...

I am not mad about them in pots, but I think they make a smashing cut flower.

Here's some my Mum grew recently

If you can find a good florist they should be able to get hold of them for you even in September...

also about the blue Amaryllis although one doesn't exist, I do remember in primary school we put cut flowers in food colouring and they would change colour maybe you could do this with white amaryllis although I wouldn't guarantee it to work...

You may be better chatting to a florist as to the availability to the colour and price etc of Amaryllis flowers. I do remember in my wholesale florist days that they come in all kinds of colours.
