We have a small wooded area at the end of our garden that is very shady. There is an ugly bit of concrete block retaining wall that I would like to hide by either planting something in front of it, or planting something above that can trail down. The attached photo shows it, but that was taken at the sunniest time of day (early evening) on a sunny day near midsummer so it doesn't really show how dark it is there.

Any suggestions on what I might plant there?

Sorry, can't see the photo either :noidea:

      How are you downloading it?

One of the Mods will look at the problem when they come on the board but they may not be on until alter today.

Interesting! As soon as I quoted your message the picture came up!! :heehee:

How about a pretty golden, small leafed ivy for trailing purposes? By using a golden one, it will bounce back any light it captures too.
Vinca could be another alternative, it has pretty blue flowers.
Alchemilla mollis is another shade lover and works in a dry shade planting. I have a piece on a wall that is glowing right now with lime green tiny flowers; it was but a humble cutting this time last year ;) and it will self seed into nooks and crannies in the wall too.
Or maybe all three of those together?

ETA: the picture doesn't show in the quote either (but, it did on my PC) Strange!

Perhaps the photo file was too big as it came straight off my phone. Here's a lower-rez version. 20160705_192321.jpg
Thanks for the suggestions, M. Anyone else?

All the above :dbgrtmb: plus ferns, and we find lots of things seem to get on well in the shade such as some of the hardy fuschias, Deutzia, Phlomis, some of the Weigelias, Lysimachia, Acanthus etc.
