I have just got some chille seeds breaking through, does anyone know if they require any special compost, or is garden soil ok?

Does any one know if they require a specific fertilizer?

And does anyone have general tips to hand out.

    Thanks in advance, compo.

I grow mine in pots (although this year I may plant them in the greenhouse border - probably the first week of June). So prick-out / pot-on the seedlings when they get their second pair of leaves into 3" pots, once they are doing well and the roots have started to fill the pot (plant will be about 3" or 4" tall I expect) pot on to 5" and then probably to their final pot after that - 9" probably big enough if the plants are small, although I expect some chilli plants can be large, in which case you might need an 11" / 10Litre pot. Or grow them in growbags, or in the greenhouse border

I water them with Tomato fertiliser once the fruits start to set (so basically they get the same treatment as my Tomato plants)

Last year mine took ages to flower, and set fruit, and it was towards the end of October that I got a crop, but I dried them (details in My Blog) and still have plenty left.
