There I was before 8 this morning putting the young plants out for the day, when, before I knew what I was doing, I was weeding and feeding the strawberry patch. Planting out some more carrots, and lettuce,
    Potting on some chillies etc......
While the rest of the world (around these parts anyhow) where still sleeping!
    Is there a cure???????

The best time of the day, peace and quiet before the noise of the traffic hits. Glad you enjoyed yourself Capney.

You are correct Clair, the best time of the day. It was a bit chilly at 7C, but it was just me and the birds.
Found myself doing some watering tonight, and after checking we have not had any rain here for 9 days, and that was only a damping.

I have been counting them too, used all the water from the water butts up, so I may have to pull out the hosepipe if it doesn't rain tonight-I'm told by the weatherman it won't. You're not on your own out there at first light. Just us and the birds-bliss.

I do my gardening in the evening - done a couple of hours with the Mantis getting on top of all the weeds between the shrubs, and the new herbaceous bed we are planting - its not going to look very grand, but I'm surprised how many plants I managed to grow last year in the "nursery bed". The herbaceous bed is going to be a bit "1,000 of this" and "1,000 of that", but I figure that we can replace them with more interesting and unusual things as we collect them - and we certainly can't afford to put the whole area down to Paeonies in-one-go!

Perhaps I can fund my "habit" by multiplying up the "dross" and flogging it on eBay. I must have 150 small (i.e. single offshoots) of Hemerocallis in my nursery bed ...

Sounds a good idea to me Kristen. I have to start to look at doing this sort of thing, I have far too many of certain things-and like you definitely not enough peonies.

Capney, about 6:30 Am, I am roaming around my gardens with a cup of coffee and a thin spade.
As I go along beware any weeds I see for this short 1/2 hour, then back inside to get ready for work.

No better time to do it. I had a cold the other day and went outside at 4:30am to cool myself down from the fever: all the birds were singing. I'm getting up at 5 to get some edging done!

This morning before work, I dug out some bronze carex that has been bothering me for ages and planted a number of aquilegias. All this involved weeding & feeding etc. I would have done more, but it was time to go to work. Back from work this evening, I went out again and did more weeding of weeds I spotted this morning. It's lovely to be able to do stuff in the evenings too.

Nothing like a morning potter around the garden in the early morning sun. I have to get up early every morning to let the chickens out and whilst I'm there I have a nosey around and see if anything has changed/grown/flowered/bloomed.
