Can anyone confirm that this is an Ivy. I've never seen any like this before, and I think it might be 'Grape Ivy'. It's invaded my garden from an adjoining DSCN6169.JPG DSCN6165.JPG property and it's getting everywhere.

It has the tiny white flowers and what look like unripe grapes on some stems. The plant has a sticky feel, rather like 'velcro'. It pulls up easily enough, but it is taking over and going through my shrubs.

What I really need to know, is it a serious pest, and should I employ someone to get among it, as it's beyond my physical condition. The neighbour will be getting a bill, I assure you!

    Any advice welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

It looks like a bryony to me (sorry, not clever enough to know if it is white bryony, or black? Bryony). They are quite fast growers, and the berries are poisonous - don't know about the leaves, etc. It should pull out quite easily (relatively speaking), but best to get on top of it earlier in the year. Not sure if it is an annual or perennial, but I'm sure the experts will be along soon!

It does look like Bryony and although you can easily pull up stems there will be a massive root under there somewhere that resembles a turnip. You need to kill that off, sometimes it's impossible to dig out when it's growing in a hedge. Use the Roundup Gel to target the leaves and nothing else, it will need a few applications.

        As above. White bryony. Poisonous.

Thank you everyone. This plant is history! I do think it will fill my garden waste bin about three times mind; and the Council collect only twice a month!
          Thanks again
