    Hi,
Not sure if i'm in the right section, but does anyone know if I can get rid of the red ants that live in my grandmothers lawn? They are here every year and i have seen them already this year. Their little mounds a popping up although when i accidently disturbed one the other day they were quite slow moving (i guess cooler weather they are less active?).

Anyway, can i get rid, and if so how? She has poured boiling water on the nest sites (although this does unfortunately ruin the poor grass), but they just crop up else where and start a new nest! I'd rather not use chemical as there are pet rabbits on the lawn.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

I had a huge nest a couple of years ago, and quite aggressive they were too - used to bite if you walked over their nest. Hot water got rid of them in the end but yeah, does kill the grass as well. For a quick fix if you find any grass in your borders then transplant to where the dead grass is and re-seed.
