I have planted some carrot and onion, but the mornings have been white with frost up here. Today it stayed at 6C all day. Will they die ?

    Planted or sown Ming?
If you've sown carrot seed it will just sit and snooze until things warm up (mine are sown). Onion sets (planted) should be ok now.

I grew "Nantes 2" last year. Very tasty! I think there is an Early Nantes too perhaps ?

I think the whole Nantes Carrot thing is blinking confusing. I found

Early Nantes 2 from Fothergills, Unwins, T&M, Suttons Organic and Suttons Allan Titchmarsh thingie.

    Early Nantes 5 from Suttons.

Early Nantes from Kings, Tapestry and Sarah Raven

So what's the difference between Nantes 2 and Nantes 5 then? :(

Not to mention a T&M 'Frubund Nantes (Fast Crop)' quote "Carrot Nantes Frubund is the first genuine autumn sowing carrot, exceptionally early and cold resistant. It will give you carrots in your garden in the spring when nobody else has them and when they are fetching high prices in the shops. A very important autumn sowing vegetable breakthrough."

Blast, I'm going to have to get some of them to try ... :)

    "suttons nantes 2"

I couldn't find any Suttons nantes 2 in the shop ... so I bought their Alan Titchmarsh ones instead - which are Organic .... ahhh, just checked and that's what I had last year as well.

All I can say is they were very tasty!

Just got a delivery from T&M this morning ... if I had only known that I needed some Fast Crop Carrots when I placed the order
