Hi - A year ago I planted a very large border of new trees and shrubs. (To hide the monstrosity that was built behind me). They are planted under a semi-permeable membrane with bark on top. Last year I purchased B&Q's liquid tree and shrub fertilizer which I have used this Spring but B & Q don't seem to stock it any more. Could anyone recommend an appropriate and easily purchased liquid fertilizer for trees and shrubs. Thanks.

I've used Maxicrop in the past - its based on Seaweed and suppose to be good as a foliar feed.

Is it really necessary, if the soil is OK, I dont think I would bother.

Just keep it well watered SHOULD we get a dry spell.

I think the OP's issue may be getting granular fertilizer under the membrane?

I planted a large area of shrubs about 30 years ago, and as best as I can remember it we used foliar feed for them with good success. I expect it was the fashion back then!!, but I think it might be a good choice if its hard to get granular / powered feed around the plants.

Thank you everyone. Kristen you have it exactly right. It is hard for me to get a granular feed around the plants. Because they were very large when planted (the trees 5mtrs plus) they took a while to get established and I feel they now need a regular boost. I have a couple that still look as if they are struggling a little, a silver birch and a holly, so would like an effective liquid feed that can be applied regularly.

    Thanks again
