When I got to work this morning, on my desk was a card which I duly opened expecting it to be a Christmas card - - what a surprise when I opened it to find it was a Thank You card from a colleague, along with £25 M&S voucher, for helping him with a few bits and bobs in his new house! Goodness me, I have barely done anything - mostly guidance and loaned him a carpet shampoo-er....... what a lovely gesture.

Then tonight, the doorbell goes - its another colleague of mine with a bottle of Johnny Walker (Gold Label no less) as a thank you for fixing his home cinema system! I never charge for these sort of jobs nowadays, as I actually get a lot of pleasure from keeping something in service and out of landfill, as well as a nice feeling that I have done a good turn somewhere - - and here he is paying me in alcohol (very nice alcohol too!); aren't people just amazing...

I tend to have a rather cynical view of the world, and therefore people in general. I haven't lost faith though as folks can and do surprise you. I had a pretty serious accident with a crane some years ago (no personal injury) which was quite a shocking/upsetting experience, so much so that I was told to take a few days off. I was surprised by the number of work colleagues that got in touch to make sure I was ok and wish me well. I need to remember that, sometimes.

I still haven't forgotten what happened a few years ago when I bought fish and chips for me and my missus, then proceeded to accidentally drop my fish on the floor before I'd even eaten one tiny bit. The chip shop lady saw it happen, heard my wife offer to share her fish, but chippy lady got me a brand new one for nowt.

I always try to help people and whenever anyone helps us we always thank them with some sort of, practical, gift or take them out for a meal.

It's surprising how even non friends or work colleagues are happy to help. I do most of my food shopping in Sainsbury's and, over the years, have got to know the staff. A smile and a cheery word to them each time always helps :dbgrtmb:. I was chatting to one of the ladies stocking the shelves and we were talking about holidays. I said that we were going to America and would, during one part of it, be visiting some relations. The relations had told me to phone them when we got to the airport and they would pick us up. Unfortunately, I don't have a phone  and happened to mention it to the lady. So she said, "come and see me next time you're here and I'll lend you one" which she did :love30: :wub2:. It was one that she bought in America so was enabled for use there. :blue thumb:

There are some lovely people around. :grphg:

                    Well done FC :)

I used to help people alot, but the last few years you get stabbed in the back, so i haven't  not even a thank you, but i think the tide is turnning around here (slowly:snork:) as the power people are clamping down on the law breakers :yahoo:when some one stabs you then asks "can you give me a hand" answer from me "NO":snorky: it hits them hard :heehee: then it makes them think abit :Wino:

It's a religious belief in fate. What will happen, will happen - for good or bad.

We are blessed to live in a very friendly area. People for the most part are helpful and considerate to each other. There is always someone who has a sour attitude, so I just give them a brilliant smile and kill 'em with kindness!

When Willow was very little, she used to take it on herself to clear the litter off the beach while I was fishing. One day she came up to me with a £10 note that she found while doing it.

                              That's good Karma :)
