Hello gardeners; this seems a friendly place. Already I've got some advice about crab apples. I've been gardening for over 30 years and mostly loved it, apart from injuring my back more than once with too much digging in the veg garden. These days I'm interested in attracting as many different birds to my garden as I can so I have changed gear....mostly now the only new additions are native species. The veg garden is gone and I'm planning and planting a 'secret garden' where hopefully I can tempt a few of the more shy avian visitors.:D

    Hi Redwing
Welcome to GC it would be great to see some photo's of the birds you have attracted to your garden, not much luck this end with attracting anything different the Seagulls haved frightened most wildlife into submission for any food that may be made available to them. The fat balls I bought the birds don't like and I bought some of the tubes with meal worms? in fat but again the birds have not taken them and it has gone moldy on the outside. Other than that I do get the usual crowd on a daily basis and when I started counting I was very supprised at how many there were and how they have there usual route for feeding.

I hope you enjoy the site

    Dave
Newhaven (that might explain the Seagulls)

    Thanks for the welcome people.

David G. NH is a great place for birds, I like West Beach......you should get loads of birds now in your garden as it's migration time. Don't know why they don't like your restaurant....probably it will just take a bit of time.

Well for those who want to see a few of the avian visitors to my garden here are a few pictures; they are yellowhammer, long-tailed tit, dunnock, robin and nuthatch.
