You don't have permission to access /forum/showthread.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.gardenerscorner.co.uk Port 80

Why did I get the above when trying to access a thread (Redstar' cats)???

Thread removed, or moved to a different Forum, would be my guess.

I have found that the forum software gives user-hostile :) messages when something like that happens. Same thing when trying to report a post that ha already been reported - a simple "Already reported, go away" message would do, but instead its some generic "Can't do this" type message which doesn't help explain why you;ve hit the rock and are sinking!

The 'forbidden' message sometimes come up if your login session has timed out, ie if you haven't changed page or posted or anything within so many minutes. Its happened to me sometimes if I start a reply then get distracted for a few minutes. If it is that then hit the back button, cut and copy your text, go back to the thread (logging back in if necessary) and then post.

Is all well now? Those messages are put on by vBulletin, not us. So we're kind of stuck with them! Sorry if you find them confrontational. 'Taint our fault!

BTW as regards timing out, if you make sure you put a tick in the box marked "Remember Me" when you're logging in, you don't get that problem. I have a couple of forums I'm logged into permanently and I never time out because I have that little box ticked. Otherwise I think the time out period is about 10 mins.
