@redstar , beginning to sound like your real hone is just a stop off place to store your suitcases in between trips :)

In July also planning a trip to the Oregon coastline. to stay in Seaside, Oregon. renting a house for a couple weeks, seeing whales. my cousins coming down for a dance contest then, so main reason. second, love the coastline. have to explore the house I want still.

I have tons of holiday time at work to use up before the end of June, only 2 weeks carry over to the next year. And in March taking a week off, have not found a place I actually want to go, but may just stay home and do day trips to places that have been on my list to see. Even with the May trip laid in, still have enough for the week in June with 2 more weeks still. do not want to loose any time.

we have toyed with renting one of those RV's and just going for months at a time. but cannot leave the cats that long, 2 weeks is their and mine limit. they are getting up in years also.

Finally, have this year sorted out, for traveling.
May, we are going to Key West, Fl, from there flying to ST Maartens for the 2nd week. June, we are going to Cayman Islands, August, going to Scotland. And September going to Costa Rica.

For the Scotland dates I will be there August 11, or maybe the 10th with a tour group for 10 days doing the coastline. There seems to be some free time etc. So if any of you are around and we can meet up, message me. I was thinking of getting there one day earlier than the tour schedule will be in Edenburg then.

Also hope for Thanksgiving to get up to Washington State to stay with cousins.

So somewhere along this year, have to figure date for retirement, sort out my work computer files from them, (deleting etc) Get on the other health insurance that one gets when you retire. etc.
Want to make sure I use up all the "paid vacation" time I can with the company I have. They need a 2 week notice, but they know its sometime this year. Boss is talking me into staying till next. (that is sweet) . LOL. It will be hard to leave. I will miss the craziness. Have to find other craziness I guess.

My parents went to the Cayman Islands last year, my mother loved it.. they have just gone on an impromptu visit to Lanzarote for a long weekend..anniversary today, 38 yrs together, 34 married. Bless them. (I do envy their holidays mind.)

Newquay is fast approaching for us and wondering what to do there, have eyed up the aquarium and the Japanese garden so far, there is the zoo but not too keen on that idea.

Linz, the Bonsai nursery is great and well worth a visit. Newquay zoo is distressing, all the animals are stressed. The aquarium is run of the mill. However, I DO reccomend the owl sanctuary.

Eldest is set on the aquarium, think we'll leave the zoo out as I don't like to see animals caged up as it is. Will force the other half and kids to the Japanese place and I'll have a look at the owl sanctary now, thanks :)

21st - 24th April, so not got long there. Would like to do at least 2 "day trips" on both Sat and the Sunday. Can you recommend any beaches? Porth has been popping up a lot. I know weathers not going to be great for paddling we're not beach lovers but would be nice to go have a nose.

Love Crantock @daitheplant so hope you enjoy your time there:thumbsup:

@Linz Porth is a nice beach for a paddle,we stayed on the camp site behind the car park the first time we went down to Cornwall, but have never swam from Porth beach as Mr Kandy refuses to sit on beaches now he is :old: he prefers walking so we usually walk along the cliff tops towards Watergate Bay:smile:

We went to Newquay Zoo that first year and it was ok then but don't know what it is like nowadays. We prefer Safari Parks but have been to Edinburgh and Whipsnade Zoo as we wanted to see the Pandas and We shall never get to seeing some of the animals in their own countries:sad:

It will all depend on what you want to see while you are there as there are plenty of shops in Newquay if you want retail therapy.Lands End is nice but a long way to trek from Newquay if you have only a short time to fit things in:smile:

Linz, Crantock beach is superb, as is Fiscal beach in Newquay itself. Would you like some pics?

Oh yes please @daitheplant ..if its no trouble. Yes Fistral has popped up a few times too!

We wont be doing much shopping @Kandy , more sight seeing. We did mention Lands End which would be great to tick off for the kids as well as us. We are staying in Hendra holiday park, its going to be more of a base for us rather than usuing their facilities apart from the indoor pool and possible night time entertainment on the first day, we're not big fans of pop music and kids clubs but I suppose we'll have to check it out for the little one - depending on how worn out or wound up he is!

Have just had another little nose at things to do, Lappa valley steam train and Porthleven Food Festival, 21st – 23rd of April
