Thanks for all the advice so far, but in all honesty, I was after advice about overcoming problems caused by dieting. I didn't ask to be berated for being a stupid fat person, so I thank you all, but I'm out.

I know you said "your out" but ..
        THIS.

I don't think anyone was berating you @clueless1 Just giving their take on what you have said or asked previously. @redstar 's diet tip of boiled eggs surely would give you that much needed boost of protein plus the suggestion of drinking more water to make you feel fuller?

Like most people have said it's about balance and cutting back on whatever is the calorie-laden foods your eating. I don't think post workout doner kebabs are helping things. Leafy greens, cooking from scratch, ditching oil's and processed foods is the way to go (say's the one who's put on a stone since Dec). I'm sure you wouldn't have health problems arising from clean eating, if that's the case see a dietician.

We weren't berating you. We were trying to give diet advice.

As you hadn't told us what your problems were there was nothing else we could say. :dunno:

I really do not see anyone in the above posts saying or implying that, quiet the contrary, really just expressing concerned surprise at your problems with dieting and trying to offer constructive help.

Don't think any of us are medically qualified but it seems obvious that you need to be getting qualified dietry one to one help, perhaps via your gp, as surely online forums are not the best place to get such help.

There was an interesting documentary on tv a month or so ago - revisiting people who had lost a load of weight.

Most had regained the weight - those who didn't were described as being obsessive about food - they spent most of their time thinking/worrying about what they were eating - and this was how they kept the weight off.

Everyone else just got on with their lives and the weight piled back on.

The good news was that your weight is down to your genetics - and without being obsessive - everyone has a different 'normal' weight - whatever 'normal' is. Being underweight is apparently a greater risk to health than being overweight.

I think, personally, that this is a case of someone wanting a diet of a desire to hear only what they wanted to hear. I've not seen any comments on fatness, or any berating comments so I can only assume that the good advice and stories of losing up to four stone was not what was wanted. When person asks for advice then he/she should be able to take good and bad advice and accounts of experience on the matter on board and then analyse it in good and realistic humour while recognising the spirit in which it was given.
Trying to work out how many grams of protein, calories, vitamins, etc for your own personal needs, is to me, best left to the experts. Obviously, several attempts to carry out self calculated diets have gone very wrong in this case and should have not been attempted and perhaps proves that "a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing"unless under proper supervision. I think what needs to be asked here, by clueless, is "Do I really need to diet or is this has this become a misguided personal belief?"............and perhaps the real solution is to consult with a Doctor before taking any other action.:dunno::coffee::snorky:

One both attempts, I lost weight at the steady rate that was closely matched to the forecasts based in the numbers. In the first case, I became deficient in protein and nearly died. Second time I made sure I didn't become deficient in protein, still lost weight in line with the forecast based on the numbers, but then became ill.

I was berated for not mentioning this yet I've read it back and all the info is in there.

I've also been criticised at least twice now in this thread for getting my calculations wrong, with one person suggesting I wouldn't have 'weight problems' if I'd got them right, which is pretty much the same as saying I'm fat because I'm too stupid to work out what I can eat. Actually, in fairness, that individual is probably right, but not for the simplistic reasons implied. But most people have kindly, and I'm sure with sincere intentions, tried to tactfully explain that calories make you fat, so we must limit them.

Like I said, I thank people for trying to help. But as I said earlier, what I was hoping for is stories of experience of things going a bit wrong, and how people got round it (if they did). Of course it is everyone's right to discuss calories and exercise and all the common knowledge stuff, but as that's not what I was after discussing, I'm happy to leave you all to get on with it.

Okay. Although I still think the criteria you are using to base your intake must have something not quite right, that's your calculations.:dunno:

The nastiest thing that happened to me was for some reason, no matter how much fiber and water I'd intake, I was compelled to try to stay downwind from people and developed very strong muscles in my back cheeks from squeezing mine whilst in elevators or fast duckwalking to the loo. Never found a cure. Think it was my body giving me the raspberry, literally.:yikes: all is okay now I'm back to my "Regular" diet.

Luckily I never caused bodily harm to those about me :heehee:

Unfortunately, I have to say that I think nobody, bar yourself, has done or said any of those things in any of their posts. If you ask for advice, don't get offended or misread their words when members offer it in a sympathetic and friendly way and probably those members are more than a bit bemused that you should have read such things into their advice when in fact they meant no such thing.:dunno::coffee:

Well I can see some excellent posts from members if you can be bothered to read, Scrungee's post for example.
