Rosas Balcony 2009

heres my new picnic basket i bought yesterday, i seen them 2 weeks ago at £25 and it was reduced and i got it for £12.98 great buy also i decorated my wall inside balcony with these stickers i bought and my new bird sphere.

 

We have the same taste Rosa!
That picnic basket is absolutely gorgeous, that was a great bargain. I usually get most things when they are reduced. Why not?

Love your basket,very nice colour and I love the flower material inside.:thmb: I love Cath Kidston stuff and have a bag you would like with lots of pretty flowers all over the outside of it.I like also that the picnic items are all good quality stuff namely glass wear instead of plastic. Mr Kandy isn't one for picnics so there would be no point in me buying a basket:D

I've just remembered,we used to have wicker baskets when we used to do cookery in the seniors at school and I also have a wicker basket that I have full of pegs that I use a lot in the garden to hang my washing out with.{Yes I am old fasioned and like to hang my washing out instead of tumble drying it all year round like the youngsters in our village do:hehe:}

 

jazmine its nice to have lovely things especially us going to morrisons for our garden bits i also go to b&m bargains and wilkinsons were i bought the clock, didnt get the basket from any of them shops my friend found this place warehouse were you have to be a member so we got day pass.

kandy i keep thinking ill get no more on my balcony but i sure find another little spot to put something haha, thanks for lovely comments, my hubbys not a picnic person so i bought it for my girlie days out with my friend, i hang my clothes out on balcony dont like tumble driers, i used to have one attached to my washing machine and very rarely used it.

 

Wow, you truly put my balcony to shame, which has a mere two hanging baskets (which are flowering nicely; if only the plants bought from B&Q were varied like they said, instead of all pink!)

Seems you shop at all the same places as me, Wilkies, B&M and Morrisons! I got some Moneymaker tomato seeds from wilkies that came in a little pot for 99p, and now I have 10 healthy tomato plants growing (and fruiting) on the window ledges (you can't see out, but you don't need to when you're sat eating your own produce!) Great value, shame the rocket didn't do as well.

Thanks for the pics, gave me some good ideas for my balcony, however I'll have to ask around for what I could grow on mine, as it gets virtually no sun (a little in the morning and a little in the evening).

 

hi mafamoo thanks for lovely comments,we all seem to shop at same places get some great bargains, i only get sun in afternoons and as you see everything is growing ok, tomatoes are no good on my balcony so your lucky, clematis should be ok for you.

 

thanks beth for lovely comments, i love roses but i havnt got a garden just a balcony and they dont grow on there tried one before and it died, the thorns would get me trying to pass them to water my climbers, they work best

Thanks for the tip Rosa, I'll try Clematis (my friend's is growing wild, so I'll just have to 'aquire' some!)

Tomato's won't grow on my balcony either, they're in the front room window, unfortunately I don't have a window sill so I have six readers digest books balanced on top of the radiator and the plants sit happily on there!

I'm actually starting to hope they stop fruiting soon, I live on the third floor which is a great position for being a nosy neighbour, but I can't see out!

Anywho, thanks again for the tip, I read somewhere ferns do well in low light too, so I'll try both :gnthb:

 

your welcome mafamoo, ive had a fern on my balcony and its didnt last, im also on the third floor, how big is your balcony as mines quite big got a part outside my kitchen window and a larger indoor part

 

Nice! Our balcony is only rather small, barely enough room to swing a cat, but I think if I use the height then I shouldn't be too bad for space.

I'd love if ours went round to the kitchen window, I'd be able to have a window box for herbs and see out the window at all the lovely plants I would surely have!

Hmm, I don't think I'll get a fern then, unless I can get one for free off someone, I wouldn't want to buy one and have it just die on me, I always feel guilty, especially as I obsessively name each plant!

Apart from that there's a few places that sell lights for growing, like http://www.homeharvest.com/lightingmain.htm so I might try that if I can afford it!

 

mafamoo my balcony part in front of kitchen window isnt that big, i have an arch in front of window and all climbers are covering it, cup & saucer vine, i guess clematis would be fine on yours, morrisons have them for £1.79 its worth trying and you havnt lost anything with them being inexpensive, were your balcony is, is it open or covered.

 

Hi Rosa, it's covered over, and half boxed in, so I'd have to plant the clematis raised up so it would get at least a little sun, and stop the cats from eating it

That's a good price, I'll be going to Morrisons tomorrow so I'll buy one and give it a try :D
