Your Begonia is lovely, Rosa. It's some time since I last grew some and even then they were indoor plants. Oh! I nearly forgot,I wondered where Sammy and Michael had got to, they're cousins of mine, you know. Take care of them...

Forgot to add,but you probably already know this anyway, you should remove any seeds as soon as you see them if you want to keep them flowering till the frosts ,its a bit of a chore but it does work ....

Hi Rosa,Yes you can remove the seeds anytime, but if you are saving some especially for seed then its best you let them ripen fully, ie reddish/brown,but if you want to keep them flowering for as long as possible then remove all seeds as soon as possible ....Nasturtiums are very prolific seeders and some of the seeds grow quite large but shrink down as they dry out ...if you grow them in gardens its quite a job to get rid of them in fact because the seeds just drop off when ripe, then survive all through the Winter and re-appear next year, in my front garden where I have them along the fence line, there are still some germinating now from last year, because they probably got dug in when I tured over the soil in the spring this year ....they dont take very kindly to being transplanted, they do survive but it knocks them back a bit ...hope this helps :thmb:

    Hi rosa,

The darker side of the recent visits to my Nasturtiums from the cabbage white butterflies ....

This is just one leaf out of thousands of course.on this leaf alone are close to a hundred caterpillars, pretty near every leaf on my 20ft row of them near my front fence will be the same .....imagine how many of the little pests that is :flag:I never win this battle every year,in a weeks time There will be no Nasturtiums left to see ...as you can see they eat all of the leaves right down to the veins ...:(

Have you checked on the undersides of the leaves ? because thats where they operate from, they work undercover so to speak :hehe:
