DNPR is not that simple it does not use special oils or Adblue or anything like that it uses diesel from the tank like the other 4 injectors. Not all DPFs are the same !!

My understanding of the Toyota DNPR (DPF) system is that the purpose of the extra injector is to aid regeneration - apart from then it is redundant.
I would go for a car equipped with an AdBlue system every time if it has to be diesel. They are reliable and best of all they do away with the need for an EGR system.

So the only way for clean air, is to tax the motorist to the limit
The air is still polluted but the money is nice

Exactly that Jack.... Same thing with the environmental charges which quadrupled the cost of hiring a skip in the ridiculous hope it would mean less waste. Results are same amount of skips hired same amount of waste to landfill just more money to the government. Well apart from those who see fit to dump their waste in beauty spots or down country lanes...

It's not as simple as that. The way the engine burns fuel means the emmisions that are caught and burnt are extremely low . During normal everyday running there are zero pollutants exiting the exhaust pipe. Regeneration happens very rarely indeed and when regenerating the pollutants exiting the exhaust are cleaner and less than a BMW 3 series that is ticking over.

The system does not operate like a regular DPF which is why the burn cycle is so darn clean and the pollutants are so low.

I've had two of these cars my current one is a late 63 plate car with 22,000 miles my previous one had 130,000 miles and of course never needed topping up with adblue or the like.

Not totally correct. There are no particulate emissions but there are CO2 and NOx emissions.........

As you know from the RAV4 forum the DPNR system is not without issues although the use of premium fuel appears to ensure longer life. My local dealer carries them in stock for several applications and replacement cost is stratospheric - I know this as part of my business is the administration of a fleet of 42 cars for a local business. In all fairness to Toyota they did replace a couple of his D4D engines under warranty a few years ago but that wasn't enough to stop him saying no more Japanese diesels a couple of years ago.
It is this experience that has led to my conclusion that AdBlue systems are the best approach to emissions reduction in terms of reliability and cost.

Of course, none of the above is relevant to the Green and Clean Air Correct organisations who will want everyone to ride a bicycle whatever their age or the weather.:dunno:

But the Human peddling will produce lots of CO2 even more when going up hill and methane when the turbo kicks in
