    So if TM gets into power in June can people on here tell me whether we are still going to have a NHS instead of all our medical care going to cost us all an arm and a leg if the NHS eventually vanishes and what is this talk about the Triple Lock Pension thing they all keep whaffling about that she might do something to? I doubt if the Pension part will affect me yet as I can't get my state pension until I am 66 but as Mr Kandy is now retired how will any pension changes affect him and I suppose me at some point:scratch:

      Being around Chesil Beach on June 8th might bring a whole new meaning to 'May Rot' (algal bloom that normally appears in May) if any's still around.

                  @Kandy

                  The triple lock was where the Government said they will "uprate the basic State Pension by a triple guarantee of earnings, prices or 2.5 per cent, whichever is highest, from April 2011".

                  So the pension is supposed to go up as much as either average earnings go up or as much as the retail price index goes up but if neither goes up by 2.5% they will put it up by 2.5%

                  The Government is now saying they may not be able to guarantee that. Regardless of that, it must go up by as much as the average earnings as that was put into the finance bill.

                    I was tempted to go back and edit that :heehee: but then I realised what a compliment you had just paid me: you actually took the time to read what I had written and, closely enough to see my error!! So, thank you, kind sir! :ccheers:

                        Thanks for the info @shiney and @pete so it isn't in our best interests to vote the Conservaties into power especially as now TM is talking about letting Fox hunting start up again:mad:

                        I was talking to Mr Kandy about all this last evening and I said that for the first time in my life I was seriously thinking of not even bothering to vote this time round as I don't like any of them or their policies:mute::sad:

                          @Kandy I'm not sure that the fox hunting issue is important enough in itself to warrant being the purpose of your vote. Five of the people I met last night said they would definitely vote Conservative because of it. They happen to be people who keep chickens and have had them ripped to pieces by foxes!
                          I'm also not sure that the change to the triple lock will make much, if any, effect on pensions (maybe one year in ten on current forecasts).

                          The problem we have at the moment is we still don't have any information on what the policies of the different parties will be. Even the 'leaked' manifesto (clever idea :whistle:) has now been labelled a consultation type document by Labour! Translation:- if too many people object to something then we'll drop it from the manifesto :th scifD36:

                          I didn't listen to Theresa's interview on radio last night as I was out, but I'm sure I'll hear about it today. Whether she would have said anything of value is something I'd like to hear - but am sceptical.

                          Vote Shiney!!!
