Is there online some uk map which tells me the speed limits for the various roads, as I want to stick to roads with 40 and lower limits unless unavoidable...? Thaanks.

Try this one - All you need to do is zoom in (use the scroll wheel on your mouse to do so) onto the area of the map you are interested in, and then click on the roads and you will get the individual information for it.

@Zigs , 40mph is the speed limit for lorry's on most roads (duel carriways 50mph, 56/60 mph on motorways)
          Agri vehicals (tractors) is 25mph

but they don't get done for obstruction :snorky:
I prefer someone driving steady and safe

I agree with @Zigs on some roads slow driving can cause hazards, surely the best plan is to keep pace with other vehicles.

I'd suggest the M6 motorway , I rarely get out of second gear during the week

Having lived near the M6 junction 10 for many years, I agree with that @HarryS

Or you could try the M11 on the way to Shiney's, 45mins to travel 4 miles.;)

I think that @"M" beat all the traffic problems by coming here early. :dbgrtmb: The Harlow Carnival and the Duxford Airshow didn't help. Some of the people bypassed Junction 7 and had a clear run by going to junction 8 :ideaIPB:. It only adds a few miles.

I by passed junction 7 but it took me 45 mins to reach it from the M25.
I went on to Junc 8 but by that time, the woman that runs my satnav was totally confused and kept wanting me to go back to the M11.;)

I told her to shut up but she persisted, in the end I turned her off and just followed road signs.
                      A bit old fashioned I know.

Getting there wasn't an issue - getting home was a different story even though I avoided the M11. The M25 was the real sticking point for me, with Sat-Nav lady diverting me off onto the A1. It was then a battle of wills between me and her as to who knew the fastest way home (I won!)

You'll have to get @wiseowl to set up a car ferry from Kent to Essex. :dbgrtmb:

No problems getting there; early enough to enjoy Eggs Royale at the Village Tearooms before Shineyland opened the gates :blue thumb:

No problems getting home either!! (Aided by the fact I was one of the last to leave :heehee: )

Only problem: I had only planned on staying an hour or three   :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Took a while to arrive, but I think the lass was having a bit of problems getting her poached eggs right :dunno: - but, she did it in the end and it was :delish: Lovely traditional tearoom and I would definitely use it again
