Hi everyone, first post for me but will no doubt be many more as a first time gardener too! What should I feed my hydrangeas? The leaves are coming through a bit pale / white. I dug in some manure a couple of weeks ago. Thanks

A dose of Murphys sequestrine will perk them up. But perhaps waiting for a full leaf to develop might be advisable.

    And hello, welcome to GC

Hydrangeas are better in semi shade. Full sun might bleach the leaves. Also a damp area so that you get lush large leaves. I come from Scotland where there are really huge hydrangeas and the weather, as you know, is not so sunny and dry. Sequestrine is good and also food for acid loving plants. I have hydrangeas in large pots and also in the ground. They do better in the ground. Lots of rain water is a must.

Don't bother buying sequestered iron if your plants are suffering from chlorosis (yellowing of the leaves) give them tea, Iron is critical for cholorphyll formation and photosynthesis, cold tea (without milk or sugar)will provide your plants iron needs.

Thank you. My better half consumes about 30 cups of tea a day so this would easy for me. Come to think of it I do remember my grandad keeping all his teabags for his plants too!

Our hydrangeas always get the potato peeling water, minus the peelings during the summer. The more water the better!

    Hope yours recovers!
