So I have kinda successfully got this rose to grow up and over my pergola hurrah!!
It smells absolutely divine and I love it, but, I am trying to bend and tie the new growth onto the structure, but the bits I've already tied are growing sonicely and thickened out I can't get to the new shoots growing upwards Do I snip them off or just leave them?

I'm pretty sure I have done this all wrong and have crossed stems etc. But also pruning roses seems so complicated how should I be pruning a climber? Googling seems to bring up a lot of pruning trellis roses but nothing like this any direction would be awfully appreciated

I'm sorry that I can't help, but just wanted to say that your pergola roses look amazing! I am very jealous...
