I have an 8ft arch at the entrance of my rear garden which faces north and have tried growing various clemitis over it but because of the nearly always cold wind they did not survive and I can't see any climbing rose hardy enough to survive either so I was thinking of growing a climbing Ivy (HEDRA) hoping that it would be hardy enough to stand the winter months. What do you think? I would appreciate any advice. Dicker. :cnfs:

Both the rose and the ivy will survive Dicker.

Thanks for your reply Lollipop, what climbing rose would you suggest, I live in Durham so it really would have to be hardy, as I said, there seems to be a constant cold wind in my rear garden and very few plants can tolerate that. Dicker:help:
