    Hi,
Im new on here and I have no idea about gardening (hence me joining the forum)!
I was wondering if anyone can advise me on which books would be useful to someone like me who has hardly any gardening knowledge? I want to learn everything about plants (growing, which plants like sun/shade etc, how to maintain them, how to control pests) and just about general gardening really. There are so many books available but i never know which ones would be useful.

    Thanks

It's a minefield out there isn't it. When I started gardening I found the gardening expert series very useful. They are inexpensive and cover most subjects. I think they would be a good initial purchase to get you started and then go from there.

The RHS guides (as book, or online) are well laid out and easy to use.

The Dr D.G. Hessayon books are very well presented and contain lots of info. Especially his Vegetable book. There is a whole series, generally with titles like "The XXX Expert"
