Its not bananas for me @Snorky85 - it is oranges, and specifically with their skin on. I cannot touch them without gloves or a cloth, nor can I peel one. I like oranges, orange juice etc, but I will run a mile if you try to hand me one with the skin on (they really freak me out - proper heebie-jeebies)

Ah FC I totally sympathise. It's totally irrational isn't it. I couldn't even cope with touching them with a glove on. I tried once... an ex boyfriends mum handed a bunch to me (not knowing about the phobia and i tried to hide the phobia and hold them) and i ended up flinging them a mile into the air lolol I think they thought I had tourettes.

It is - oddly enough, I worked beside someone years ago who was exactly the same. We worked for a small family business, and there was only four of us working there - one day, at lunchtime I heard a yell from the kitchenette and went to find out what was going on........ my colleague handed me (or tried to) his plastic lunchbox and get me to peel his orange for him. Of course, I retorted that he must be extracting the urine, and how did he know about me and oranges......... it was then that I discovered he was exactly the same! He had only been married a short while at the time, and he still hadn't the heart to tell his wife about his phobia - so, there was two grown men standing looking at an orange in a tupperware box as though it was a grenade

The best of it is, I am fine with lemons and grapefruit - it is just oranges I cannot handle.

So the leaky hose thing works absolutely fantastically! 15 holes made with a screwdriver and the hose held down by weights... great stuff! (Although forgot to turn it off for about two hours yesterday - was terrified I'd drowned my toms but today they have gone mental ha ha ... anyway, recommendations please for a reliable timer I can set before I bugger off to Krakow...

Ha ha that's so funny but a nice feeling when you know you are not alone. I know a few people with the b*****phobia. Lol. One woman i worked with in an open plan office was the same and luckily people were quite good. However, i had one person (who i WAS best friends with for years) who thought it would be funny to send me a banana skin via internal mail. Had lots of horrible pranks in the past. :(

Oh some people can be cruel - my ex used to chase me around Tescos with an orange, or deliberately leave a bag of loose oranges in such a position that they would all roll all over the place whenever I moved something else - - cue me bouncing around the place like Tigger on speed. She clearly thought it was funny, but I didn't.

Mrs C has a wee giggle at me once in a while, especially when I lift one of those net bags of oranges out of the trolley at the supermarket, lifting it by the label with finger and thumb only - but she isn't the cruel type.

But can you touch it? Is it a strong dislike or phobia? I hate cucumber-it makes me gag but i can touch it. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
