Later in the year I'm hoping to build a pondless waterfall.
I have a small 6' bed in tha shape of a triangle and it is on a natural slope.
I would like to create a waterfall out of rocks and pebbles. Has anyone got any advice for me or some good websites to look at .

    Bally,

I would recommend going to a fish/water garden centre near to you.....They will give you the best advice.

I built a raised pond last year and although I knew the construction requirments, my local fishery ( herts fisheries next to burstons in chiswell green on the A405) advised my really well.

For example, i have to pumps, one to keep the filter going and another for the water feature. You might not want to water feature running constantly, but the pump is vital.

    Anyway good luck

For a waterfall to work there are lots of things to be taken into consideration.
    Roughly it goes like this.

Width of waterfall, depth of water required, height to actual fall from sump.

    Width.
The wider it is the more water will be required at the top.

    Water Depth
For a good very looking waterfall 12mm water depth is fine, but the average is about 3mm.

    Pump
You need to multiply width of waterfall X depth of water to find out how much water is required. Then you have to find a pump that can deliver that much water to that height.

A lot of home built waterfalls often look feeble because the above was never done, and often any old pump was used.

You may want to read some info here
