Collecting leaves from public places

have several of those behind my gazebo, love it when there is a good rain and it freezes on the red twigs, have pix of that somewhere.

 

Envious redstar. Must be fantastic to see that . Dont really get that affect down here.

 

@Scrungee, Good idea because there's loads of people who depend on family and other's to remove leafs ...my next door neighbour for one as to pay a gardener.

 

Legally, you can't advertise that service without a waste carriers license

I had a thought

If we all get some pre paid envelopes, stick a lable with Gary's address on them and stuff them full of leaves, he'd have loads of them

 

I've had a better thought ... how about he sends all of us a SAE and we stuff them full of leaves

 

He won't want any from me, as all the roadside leaves are covered in moo poo

Why do these sorts of questions on forums always turn into a list of posts about the law. Seriously, does NOBODY use their heads any more and rely on common sense?

Nobody is going to annoy you for clearing up some leaves from a park or pavement. And NOBODY is going to sue you for slipping on any remaining leaves.

Totally bonkers concepts being tossed around!

I do like the idea of putting a few flyers through doors or knocking on some and offering cheap leaf clearance with waste removal included. Might as well get home with enough cash to get a curry!

 

It's very important that you get home with that takeaway curry, because if 'working' when you eat it, the packaging then becomes 'trade waste' and it's illegal to deposit it in a public litter bin.

 

I spent many many years (over 25) collecting leaves from off of a gentlemans front grass verge and his neighbours verges either side of him in the village where I used to live and even came back after we had moved house as our allotments were in the same village and not once did we get stopped or asked what we were doing.

I even used to go up to the village park with my dustbin bags and filled them up with the fallen leaves then used to get Mr Kandy to bring up his car to load them into and in all that time we never ever had a problem.

In all that time we never ever had any problem with the leaf Police

 

Used to gather seaweed from the beaches. Pretty sure some goodie two shoes would have complained but it was fine
Agree with glasgowdan....common sense. The law is often silly anyway, esp bye laws....who knows what they say?
