    Why are 1983 U.K. £1 coins worth more than 1982 U.K. £1 coins?

    Regards

Hi Drew Thought the first pound coin was issued on 21 April 1983 to replace the Bank of England one pound note,so there was no one pound coin in 1982 so its got be worth more:cnfs::old::)

Was it a proof set minted in 1982 the coins were made out of sterling silver instead of nickel-brass.
