Thank you all, it is truly appreciated :)

Another terse day today, and tomorrow is likely to be another in the same vein - time will tell.

Oh how kind @toppington . Unlike Fat Controller things here have got better. Our lovely cat has recovered from the mystery (to us and the vets) illness and is more or less back to normal be it a bit skinny, the other "dramas" are mostly sorted so the booze cupboard hasn't had quite such a hammering over the last couple of days:).
I'm sure we all have periods in our lives where there is just 1 thing after another and you feel like you're floundering a bit. As long as my nearest and dearest (humans and animals) are ok everything else is in reality just an annoyance but your post is much appreciated:grphg:.

As many of you know I do like a glass or two of prosecco :dbgrtmb:, I like a G&T, a glass of white wine......um ok, I do like a tipple, but I don't drink everyday, I enjoy a glass of something socially but I also enjoy a cup of tea! A cup of tea for me sorts out most problems! I do try to keep up beat & I do like a good laugh but I do have friends who drink because they have the most awful jobs which are full of stress & pressure, they do drink a lot more than my friends who have a calm quiet life!
When I'm really stressed or have had a really bad day at work I grab the chocolate tub  I can eat my body weight in chocolate!

I’ve met a few people to whom alcohol has done real harm. One chap whom became hooked topped himself a few weeks back..

I’ve yet to meet anyone that has benefited from alcohol..

                    Just saying ...

@Charlie996 I do agree with the above but here's a little story....Some years ago, in UK, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure so had to monitor it several times a day over a period of 2 weeks. I didn't drink any alcohol at all the first week. It was off the scale several times, notably after shopping in Tescos . The second week, I thought 'dammit' and went back to the occasional (1) glass of dry white in the evening. Result? Normal BP. The doctors over here actively recommend one glass of red with a meal, so perhaps 2 glasses per day. Unfortunately my OH misheard and has been on 2 litres a day for 10 years. Still not dead, though....
