    Hiya

This tree was growing all along the beach at Side, near Antalya, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. I can't find it in any of my id books. Probably just being obtuse but can someone tell me what it is please! I took it in mid-February

    Thanks

    MH

Hi Martin, not 1005 sure but, I think it is Eucalyptus globulus or common name Blue Gum tree.. It is/was grown in that area for it's oil.. :thmb:

It could be a Euphorbia - such as Euphorbia tirucalli maybe?

I'll go with Marley and say Eucalyptus, too. I know that area all along the coast and there are endless Eucalyptus growing there, smell heavenly.

We were told by a guide many years ago, that they were introduced here to help dry up the formerly boggy ground, especially around Dalaman on the Aegean side.

I thought eucalyptus at first but the flower buds look like acacia to me.

It also looks a few years old, I think a blue gum of that age would be much bigger.

I'm not sure about it being a Eucalyptus at all ... can't see the Acacia either, pete ....

Here are pics I took of a very tall (4 meters at least) Euphorbia in August at a villa where friends were staying ...

It's Acacia Longifolia and grows everywhere in Turkey and Cyprus, like Buddleia it even grows out of walls and drains.
