Even the thought of entering Tesco gives me palpitations! I absolutely hate Tesco, my local Bury St Edmunds branch is particularly horrible! :gaah:, I can't tell you exactly what it is about the place I just hate it :dunno:

Love wine. but also a Bombay gin martini with olives. Its all about moderation. Heard its good to keep fatty liver away. Like trying new cocktails at upscale restaurants for a bit of a change, but the savory type, not sweet. Had a Basil Martini once, and found out that there is a type of "basil" to grow for cocktails than the regular one we use for pasta etc. Maybe this year I will remember to get those seeds. 219659_4438992056767_1980191493_o.jpg

I was once told by a customer a true story.

            Charlie my grandad has died....

It was the drink that got him

He drank a bottle of whisky Every day

            He was 84 mind..

He got knocked down by a car on the way back from the off licence.

That story is absolutely true I assure you all....

A subject that is quite close to my heart as I have suffered from depression for as long as I can remember and I am currently wet nursing Lil Bro who also suffers and is in a truly dark place at the moment (to the point where I seriously considered having him sectioned).

As far as I'm concerned there is no link between alcohol and depression but there is a link between depression and alcohol. All pubs have their hard drinkers - some are just being gregarious, some have a drink problem and some will be there because alcohol has become the crutch for their depression. I used to be the last one.
I was known as a party animal because it is so easy to hide behind the mask of alcohol until one night the inevitable happened and I took an overdose. Thankfully pills on top of a skinful of Guinness and Remy don't stay down for long but it does still hurt, bad enough that I called an ambulance and spent three days in hospital.
The moral of the story - if you don't want to return from the hospital to find that the back door is boarded up because the old bill have forced an entry don't stagger down to the postbox with a letter addressed "IMPORTANT CONTAINS MY SUICIDE NOTE" ! Once it fails automatic sorting humans get involved and they take it seriously (thankfully).

Beyond an occasional glass of home made wine :Wino:- that's it.

First hand experience has shown me how destructive alcohol can be.

Beckie76 - I agree with you about Tesco's - more specifically the smaller stores. My local Tesco's is fairly small, the car park is always full and people seem to bash into each other with trolleys - I'd drive a couple more miles to shop at a larger less packed shop :spinning:.

Oh I couldn't tell you exactly why I loath the place either ... ... ok, so maybe it has something to do with the staff ... :think3: ... something to do with their pricing ... :think2: ... their customer service is non-existent ... ... something to do with how they conduct "business" ... :think3: ... the fact I do remember them *before* they became too big for their boots? :dunno:

Nopey, totally cannot think why that place raises my blood pressure!

                        On that, I would agree!

I am saddened to read your post and the challenges you have faced with your own black dog and the one that has currently taken hold of your brother - very brave of you to post it and I admire you for it. Sincerely hoping that you are able to keep your brother safe and that he is able to find a way to move forward out of the darkness :grphg:

Equally, as much as I admire and respect your business successes and your gardening talents - how relieved I am to read that you failed in that one particular venture and it resulted in you getting the help you so desperately needed at that time :grphg:

Hoping the black dog doesn't find his way to grab hold of you again; but, if he should ... you have friends here!

My apologies, Charlie, I was just trying to make a poor joke out of the fact that drink, as he was coming from the Off Licence, indirectly contributed to his demise. Forgive my Gallows Humour:love30::snorky:
