Hi all im new to this forum and also to gardening. Ive been given a few plants which i intend to plant fingers crossed tomorrow. I do however have one question/problem. I need to kill off some climbing ivy like plant that my next door neighbour planted years ago and its just gone mad. Its growing up my house and its even growing along the edge of my garden where i want to plant my plants but i just know that the plants are going to get suffocated if i don't sort the problem out now.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to kill it off and get rid of it. Its horrible stuff and is stuck tight to my walls. :o(.

    Please help.

Hi Babyboy & [IMG] to GC.. Some photos would help to make sure we are actually talking about ivy.. Does it flower or is it evergreen..? Could be bind weed if it has white flowers in summer.... If it is ivy I would cut it back & dig out any new trailing roots, but you will need to keep a check for re-growth.. Round up copuld be effective against the worst parts.. If it is bindweed then several applications of Roundup over a season should take care of it..:thmb: As I say some photos woulds be great..:)

Hi all thanks for your response sorry ive not replied since been rather busy and forgot to check. Its Green Ivy to my knowledge it doesn't flower been in the house 8yrs and never seen flowers. Its rather horridle stuff (my opinion-would have looked nice if it was cared for and looked after)

My house is pebble-dashed (not my choice) We want to get rid as we are hoping to re-paint our house soon. and need the ivy out the way.

    Thanks for all your welcome's.

cvuty the ivy at the base, pikaxe out the roots and then pull awaty the stems with the aid of a paintscraper or small crowbar.
