It appears at least a few GC members use these:

And at £29.99 this one (with a 12L capacity) appears rather cheap, and I'm looking forward to healthy fish and chips, without having to use an expensive to run electric oven, or a smelly, steamy, (unhealthy?) deep fat fryer.

Buy the Daewoo Halogen Air Fryer Low Fat Oven with 12L Capacity | Robert Dyas

    Are they any good?

Will a 12L capacity really hold loads of food ?

Can the be used on campsite electrical hook ups?

No idea as I don’t own one.Friends of ours had one for Xmas a few years ago and she raves about it,but they look quiet big and I haven’t got the cupboard space for one.

We either buy those chips from the supermarket that look like big chips or else we make our own and cook them in the oven:biggrin:

I've got an Actifry and definitely wouldn't be without it! It's a two-tier version so does steak or fish on top while the chips or sauté or roast potatoes cook underneath. Perfect for 2 people and very little washing up afterwards, unlike most gadgets. It saves a fortune on oil and, more importantly, no horrible gungey DFF to try to clean!

I'd definitely be interested in other people's experiences with them. I've no cupboard space and not sure I've the need for one, but any more reviews would be good!

I've had to keep mine for the occasional bout of Deep Fried Crispy Chinese Beef, but once I can't unglue the lid, it's going to the tip!

Do these air fryers need sitting on the cooker underneath the extractor hood to vent the steam from frying chips?

Never seem to notice it when cooking oven chips, but using our old deep fat fryer filled the kitchen with moisture.

I've got mine in the utility room. There's a faint smell of chips cooking, but never noticed much humidity. In principle, if you're not using much fat, there's no greasy steam, especially if you pat the potatoes dry like you're supposed to

I’ve got a similar one that I keep down the caravan, so yes, fine for a hook-up. I’ve cooked a few different things in it, but mostly jacket potatoes and marinated chicken thighs. I have cooked frozen chips in it, but it’s not very practical - one has to keep turning them. A pretty useful item, but bear in mind that the heat is radiated from overhead, a bit like a grill. That said, the lamp isn’t constantly on, it turns on and off to maintain the set temperature. Think of it as an oven...

I have an Actifry and also purchsed the tray that fits in it. The propeller shaped paddle rotates and flips chips, nuggets, vegetables etc. And I use the round tray for items that would be damaged by flipping such as chicken patties. Dandy machine.

When cooking things like frozen chips or breaded chicken nuggets no oil is added.

Bought this machjne rivht after OH got told he neds to lower his cholesterol and between the little pills he takes and using cooking gear like this, I believe it is doing the job :)
