Funny enough, I just came to this thread to see how you and @silu were faring. I spoke to my lovely mum earlier, and she told me that her area had seen a fair bit of snow, although it wasn't lying due to being so close to the sea - all around her is covered though.

Only a matter of days until your boiler replacement too, if I remember correctly?

I don't think Silu's posted yet @Fat Controller. :) This is the third lot we've had since the beginning of November. In at the deep end (literally) for our first winter in this area. We only had a sprinkling last year but we weren't 500ft above sea level then.

Yes, the work will be started this coming Monday, a five day job if all goes well, I can see my new boiler arriving on a sledge. :snorky: I said the weather wold turn polar, it's just my luck! We decided to hire temporary heating which has worked out much cheaper than buying....we also got a discount! :)

It does @ARMANDII and I'm resisting walking on it and spoiling it. :) I'm only venturing to the bird table and back for the time being.

Not too bad here.Thank you for your concern @Fat Controller, your Mum should be ok in Musselburgh being on the coast altho no doubt hellish cold. I'm toasting in front of the burner with a whisky coffee a LONG way away from my computer you'll be glad to hear FC, me having hurled a whole cup over my laptop before Christmas with pretty critical consequences:rolleyespink: About maybe 2ins of the dreaded white stuff. It was snowing hard earlier with leaden skies and I began to worry about daughter getting home here from work later on this evening, however the snow stopped much quicker than I thought it would:phew:. Will still be glad when she gets home as our road can be somewhat interesting being narrow and understandably won't have been gritted. Hope all well with you @Sheal . We have nothing like what you have....yet! Thankfully our boiler issue has been diagnosed by daughter's BF (water in the filter plus gunk) the filter to my certain knowledge has not been changed in nearly 17 years:yikes:. Anyway new filter on it's way and BF will fit same this weekend. No water whatsoever in the tank which is the good news.

Not too bad for you at the moment then Silu, let's hope it stays that way. :) If you need any more snow you know where to come. I'm glad to hear your boiler issue wasn't as bad as first thought and that there's no drainage to be done on your tank. I also hope your daughter gets home safe and sound.

We had a plough/gritter come through around 6pm. Although the same as you, narrow road with passing places, it is also a bus route which is why it's cleared. A single decker comes through every two hours.

I've just been outside to knock a growing icicle off an overflow pipe that has a slow drip. I also cleared the roof of the bird table earlier but it now has another three inches on it. Still snowing and -3C/27F.

Heavy snow showers again with a hint of sunshine in between, 0C/32F. The road I live on was just about passable today, tomorrow it will be like a skating rink.

Oh @Sheal you are being indoctrinated into Scotland quite harshly:grphg:. Being that bit further north to where I live does make a fair difference to your climate. Apart from our road which was a little on the interesting side the rest of the roads around here were no bother at all today and most of our snow had melted by this evening. It may well freeze over night tho. So far this winter has been quite a cold 1, not in the same class as 2010/11 or 12 but the coldest since then for sure. Things will get better...soon!

It wasn't like this last year @silu, quite mild. :) When I lived in the south east of England winters there could be just as bad. The snow doesn't bother me that much, it's the fact I can't work out in the garden that does. I've not done anything out there for the best part of two months and I'm in need of some gardening therapy. :) However, it looks like the temperatures are going to rise next week so there's hope, and with the plumbers here inside I'd rather be outside.

I'm glad to hear you got away pretty lightly for the time being, Dumfries and Galloway didn't fare so well apparently.
