I'll add this, it's our son's dog Ted's "selfie." I said he was clever!

    (He trod on the phone!)

We've some friends, a childless couple in their forties, who the year before last were walking in Dunham Forest and discovered a dog tied to a tree with a bit of rope. He was very friendly.
There was no one around so, they untied it which it seemed very pleased about and they took it to the local Police Station. They didn't want to know, so they took it to a local animal sanctuary.

They thought about it during the evening and decided they'd better have him,, they thought that possibly, no one would want him and he might get put down.
So the following day they went back to the sanctuary, told them of their decision. Because he'd been checked over by the vet and chipped he cost them £150!

Anyway they've been happy with him ever since, they think he was about two. He's well behaved, loves people and children but not too keen on other dogs.

      They called him, "Sam."

Sam in their back garden, it's near some other woods. He's got a perpetual smile, which matches his personality.

@Doghouse Riley Sam is a lovely boy.l don't know how people can leave a dog like that. What if nobody found him? I don't know how some people can starve their dog. Our dogs always know when it's time to feed them. If we didn't they wouldn't understand and get very upset.

He's very good, if they visit anyone and they aren't keen on dogs or if it's wet out. They leave him in their pickup, he's quite content to stay as he knows they've got to come back to it.

This photo is fifty years old. It's of our pet squirrel and our eldest son. I mentioned it early but have since found this photo.

                        squirrel.jpg

She was a bit wary of the camera, something she'd never seen before. The kids found her being tormented by other kids in a local park. It was just a baby, but thrived in captivity. I doubt it would have survived if we took it back. It had a happy short life, liked to sit curled up on your lap when you were watching TV.
It had the run of the house and toilet trained itself to use a tray in the kitchen. Loved ice cream.

Our son was always into Lego, even at the age of fourteen, his school mates thought that was a bit odd. He had the last laugh as he's been a consultant engineer for over twenty years and has traveled the world.

                          What a stunner!!! :doggieshmooze: :wub2:

Just a "heads up": the Julius harness is great for most things (a real corker!) but ... and this is a health thing, they are pants if a dog has a need to "jump". I say this because, in all other regards, it is a fab harness. However, should your dog (or anyone's dog, for that matter) develop any issues re: jumping - as in, getting into a car - the Julius harness (AT THIS POINT IN TIME!) can prove to be a hindrance! :nonofinger:

As some may know/remember, last year Ozzy developed certain issues, one of which was the leap from ground into car boot. Fair enough, he had developed certain physical restrictions. At one point during his re-hab, I bought Julius Harness and noticed it had set him back :th scifD36:

In a fully fit dog, it is a great thing and to be commended.
In a dog with mobility issues, the harness is not "leap-friendly" - e.g. it restricted the freedom of movement for Ozzy to be able to "jump" into the boot of the car. This is a design issue.

In all other respects, it is a fab device :dbgrtmb:

Just wanted to highlight that it does have "limitations" for those canines who may develop mobility issues. In which case, other harnesses are available :doggieshmooze::doggieshmooze:

Thanks @M, will bear that it mind when she get older, she's only 17 months at the moment, she is not the best at getting in the car, Tigger as to go in first then she follows him.

She does travel ok, the furthest we have been with her in the car was when we collected her from the adoption kennels near Sheffield.

We did have a different type of harness for her but when I saw the Julius type on a facebook site, I just had to get it for her, according to there website they now do a different version.

The main reason I got it was how easy they are to fit on your dog just one large clip, and all the straps are high visibility.

The one Meg is wearing is a size 1 its for dogs 23 - 30 kg, it is a bit to big for her at the moment as she's currently about 20 kg a little under weight for her age.
