Moth identification

    Is anyone here an entomologist? We had several of these kind of moths entering our house last year; I've never seen any like them before. Does anyone know what they are?

    It's a "magpie moth" Abraxas grosulariata.

    Oh wow. Excellent. Thank you so much. I just looked it up on Google Images; there are a lot of pictures of it. The female looks completely different to the male; and indeed, the female is the other moth that I had wanted to photograph and identify. I only saw one of their caterpillas though. We have a crysallis outside our front door; I wonder if that is what is inside it. .. Oh it isn't; I just checked. Ho hum. Anyway; thank you very much for identifying that for me .. I'm really chuffed now :)
