My first attempt at growing hemp was for hemp leaf, a well known health food, all legal by the way, from seeds, in ASDA, who sell the hemp seeds.

My first attempt at growing hemp was easy, i sprouted them, grew them in soil in a plastic cup, but they all died out on me, after reaching abouy 6 inches tall. ??

Is there any way to make them survive, and what time of the year should I grow them.

Also, since its a weed, can i just throw the sprouted seeds into my garden and they will grow, I heard it doesnt require much maintenance ?

Treat them like tomato plants the Hemp grown is different species all together from the drug. sounds like they were subjected to damping off

They'll need plenty of sunshine. I would wait until the back end of next month before sowing the seed. If you grow seeds indoors where it is nice and warm but not very sunny, they will grow very fast and tall but have no strength in them, and then they keel over under their own weight.

The hemp is also a good food source for the birds and plants usually sprout from cheap bird seed. proper bird seed is heat treated to stop germination. again more often than not the seeds from bird food is the illegal plant but they do not survive for long as they are not very hardy. (From a botanists point of view)
