    Yet another question sorry gardeners. Looking for a really tough, really hardy climber - if there is such a thing? At 300m/1000ft, exposed location, cold winters, big winds, north/south facing gardens. TY!

      My Russian Vine lasted one summer :( and I liked the flowers, it was pretty. I don't know what went wrong. But it left a nekkid 2ft along the bottom that I didn't like, it only got leaves and flowers from about 2ft up. I quite like the look of the Celastrus though.. thank you :spinning:

        Oh now that is lovely - but over 30 years I've bought and planted many clematis and none have survived the first year - they just disappear. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. But this is nice!

        Have you tried Lonicera caprifolium - Italian honeysuckle? It should to be tough as it grows as north as in Finland and here winters are quite cold.

          Hydrangea Anomala Petiolaris is lovely and thrives on North facing walls and is fully hardy.
