Very little done today, I had to force myself to water the baskets!
I did manage to water a pot or two, that made my feel guilty by deliberately drooping, as I passed with the can :heehee:
This grey, dull weather seems to have energy sapping mystical powers :rolleyespink: :heehee:

I mowed my back lawn with my old (new to me) reel mower. Still figuring out what height I want to set. :)

I gave my Lilac "Madame Lemoine" a good prune today using a hand power saw which did a good job slicing through 3 inch thick boughs. It's going to take a couple of trips to the Dump to get rid of it all but the pruning has let a lot of daylight reach the plants under the Lilac. I used the hose to water the borders, rear lawn, pots and the area between the Observatory and the West Fence.
This prolonged dry weather has meant that I have to keep topping up the wildlife pond using the permanently laid hosepipe that runs from the outside tap on the Kitchen wall and then runs down at the back of the West border, and it makes things so easy.:snorky: I've also been dead heading the roses every day and find that I always have to go back for a second look as I seem to miss at least one or two on a bush. I then used a net to skim the pond of leaves and rose petals from the surface, that too seems to be a daily job. Going into the Green House I rescued two more Frogs from the shallow water filled troughs that still contain pots of plants that I intend to put in the borders in the next few days. I have to be careful where I put my feet at the moment as there are loads of young Frogs in the borders, hiding behind pots, and under fallen leaves but, so far I haven't trod on any. Jenny the Cat is having great fun stalking the Frogs and then running off when they leap into the air!!

I'm also keeping an eye on the Hydrangeas and giving them a good watering every day as they
really don't like this dry weather.:dunno:

I know @Gail_68 ! I've sown the seeds, pricked out, potted on, given copious amounts of tlc picked the right spots for them in the garden and now I can't get my behind off the sofa to water them:doh:
I'm such a bad plant mummy :hate-shocked: in my defence I'm used to soooo much more rain.
You've inspired me anyway, I'll be out there tomorrow giving them all a drink
Thanks for the virtual boot up the behind

@ARMANDII you have been going at it mate and I bet our water bills will be sky high :snorky: I have one hydrangea that has to be watered midday or it starts wilting
Sounds like you have a lovely wilderness of frogs but I could just imagine your cat :heehee:

That's what I mean you've brought plants mate and been doing them in the garden...humidity here keeps draining me out besides my health but no way will I let my plants go and on top it's not like we and members pay pea nuts for them.:)

                  Just keep blasting them [IMG]

:rain: and wind this morning turned to :hotsun: and no wind this afternoon :yay:. Had to go buy hay for pets so didn't get much done in garden. Trimmed up by hand the trees I started yesterday with the long reach petrol hedge cutter. Pulled out some blanket weed from the pond. The water is still clear and there is no smell. I did forget to say earlier that, although there don't appear to be many insects, there are quite a lot of snails  .

I noticed today two stripey insects similar to Hover flies buzzing back and forth across the pond. They landed on the Water Soldier several times. I think they may have possibly have been doing a mating ritual from the flight pattern and the loud buzzing. No idea what they are, will google later.

@ARMANDII I'm not really a cat person but I do like your Jenny :wub2:. I think we'd get along well together :heehee: :loll:

:ThankYou: I think I'm going to restructure the surrounding area around the pond at some point as I don't think the gravel and slate look all that great. More grasses and flowers I think.

Well, that's has served us well for the last 30 years and, and the cats loved it, it was hand made by a firm in Wales. But I have now replaced it, two weeks ago, with a similar handmade leather suite made by the same firm. They keep the same leather they made the suite out of for as long as you have the furniture in case you need a repair. Both cats were suspicious of the new suite especially as I decided to use "throw overs] and they were getting their claws caught in the weave, but now they've learnt not to use their claws to grip and and are back to loving the comfort to the point I have to fight for a seat.:cat-kittyandsmiley::heehee:
