I saw this Common Tern at Poole Quay flying around where there were lots of people crabbing but the Tern ignored them so I tried a few shots with the Canon, bridge cameras are not known for capturing fast moving things but just on auto and using the LCD and at 60x zoom and cropped they still didn't come out too bad.

Lovely photos as usual @strongylodon I heard on the radio a few weeks back that another fourteen Osprey youngsters are going to be translocated down to Poole and when they are released it is hoped that in a few years they make their way back to Poole and start breeding so they could be a regular occurrence in your area eventually.:dbgrtmb:

Lovely Marley Many Thanks for sharing the video with us all:dbgrtmb:

Quiet a few years ago we had one in our back garden feeding on our Primula Vialii flowers but as the plants were a short lived perennial they died off and we have never had one visit us since but looking at your phlox will have to get some of them instead:smile:

They arrived last week, all 14 are doing well, they have been given ring numbrs 001 to 0014 so one is, I suppose, going to be more interest than the others.... 007.

There are a couple of unringed ones around now in the harbour.
Next year may see the return of some if not all the previous birds although one is known to have died in Senegal in West Africa.

We had 6 Great White Egrets turn up suddenly last week and one juv Purple Heron, not sure where they have come from, maybe France or Holland, the more the merrier!
