    Garlic.

    I have only ever eaten it as an ingredient in a meal.
    I have now got a garlic soup recipe.

    Has anyone tried this, and if so, what do you think of it . . . .apart from a smelly breath.:)

      I'll eat anything and I mean anything, somethings I don't particularly like but would never be so rude if with friends/family and not eat what they give me. As to what we ate today my gorgeous hubby made me fish chowder with cod, haddock, salmon and prawns.

          Mum always said you must eat all the food, never waste any, and think of the starving children in Bengal. I never understood that view as I couldn't work out how that was going to help them. :noidea:

            I haven't done that :nonofinger:. I love my meat and two veg :blue thumb: but I just have a much wider repertoire of meals and ingredients than there used to be. I'm going to have rack of lamb with roast spuds and runner beans tonight. :dbgrtmb:

                Not my favourite (plenty of soups I like better) so rarely cook it. It's much better if you roast the garlic first, caramelise the onions and I prefer to use 75% coconut milk instead of milk or cream. :blue thumb:

                  The recipe does suggest roasting the garlic first.
                  I read that garlic has good medicinal qualities. That is why I want to try the soup.

                    Last night we had take away fish and chips from the local pub. I phoned the order through and collected it about 15 mins later. It was very good. We usually buy our fish and chips in the next village. This was cheaper and as it wasn't so far to travel, the meal was still hot. It's definitely something we Will be doing again.

                    Tonight I had my famous (well it is is in our house) crock pot beef stew.

                      I never had much luck with garlic. Recipes always tell you to roast it first with your onions. Mine always burned and then left a nasty taste. Nowadays I tend to use garlic pepper as a seasoning instead.

                        @shiney haha, the variant was no potato! Hubby doesn't like them in a ' curry ' . It's my .....gosht recipe :snorky:. The recipe I use fries the potatoes in ghee before adding to the gravy, yum yum :thumbsup: but if he doesn't want them I comprise ( and save lots of calories :dbgrtmb:) it still tastes amazing :snorky:

                          @Jack Sparrow i agree about recipes telling you to cook garlic with the onion, it usually burns before the onion has cooked :dunno:
                          What I do is cook the onion until ' done ' then add garlic / ginger and cook gently, stirring, for a few more minutes
