Small, tattered brassicas - worth keeping?

    Hi all.
    A belated happy new year to you all. :-)

    My brassicas from last autumn planting got repeatedly attacked by an big pigeon and friends, leaving the leaves in tatters. I rescued a few savoy and red cabbages, and put them in the g/h in large pots where they are slowly recovering. The Brussels are still outside but now covered with netting.

    Will they ever produce anything useful, and if so should I bring the Brussels into the g/h and put them in large pots?

    Or should I just chuck the lot and start again?

    Any advice welcome - I haven't done brassicas before, only Pak choi......

    I don't think the Brussels will create any new "sprouts", but if they are half-eaten then could perhaps be picks and cooked in the style of cabbage? Any small sprouts may well fatten up, as yet.

    Hi all.

    Well, as an experiment, I potted up the brassicas, and well over half of them are doing fine, and have put on a spurt of growth in the recent warm weather. They are now all outside under netting.

    Neraly all the brussels have started to produce wee sprouts, some as big as a marble, and they are under netting too, so are Pigeon-proof!

    Fingers crossed. :)
